Alfie and his dad are taking a leap for prem babies
Category

Charity Challenge

This Father’s Day we want to shine a light on a special father and son team who say they are “so grateful to the neonatal team at Barnet Hospital” that supported two of their family members.

Father and son team Grant and Alfie are taking a leap for premature babies and will skydive for Ickle Pickles on the 22nd of June.

Both of Grant’s children were born prematurely, weighing just 3 lbs each. Alfie was born at 31 weeks but his mum’s waters broke when she was only 24 weeks pregnant.

Alfie was born on the 12th of May at 10:31 and went straight into an incubator. He stayed at the Starlight Neonatal Unit at Barnet Hospital for four months. Thanks to the first-class neonatal care he and his sister received after birth, they have gone on to live full and healthy lives. Alfie is now 16 and taking his exams - his dad and mum could not be prouder!

Alfie is doing really well - he is 6 foot 2, very healthy and plans to study surveying & planning in college.

Dad and son are taking the opportunity to give back and help countless other babies born premature or sick. Alfie wants to support the special care unit that helped him when he was born by raising essential funds for their current appeal.

What an incredible team to inspire others.
