Ickle Pickles awarded a grant of £3000 from The David Hunt Trust
Fundraising
Ickle Pickles was delighted to receive a cheque for £3,000 from The David Hunt Trust towards the refurbishment of the mum's room on the Special Care Baby Unit at St Richard's Hospital in Chichester.
This generous donation will help to make this room a more welcoming and peaceful space, allowing the new mums to be close to their babies at this difficult time. The impact of having a baby in hospital and having to leave them in the care of the specialist team every night can affect your mental health and ability to be able to deal with this difficult situation.
Many parents will spend weeks or months caring for their preterm baby in a neonatal unit, often a long way from home. Overnight accommodation for parents is rarely available, meaning they must repeatedly endure the distress of being separated from their baby.
To be able to provide a safe and supportive space, close to their baby, where the mum can rest and recharge has proven to have a positive impact on the well-being of these new mums.
Ickle Pickles attended an awards ceremony which was held on Wednesday 20th November at Ham Manor Golf Club in Angmering, West Sussex where 29 charities from across East and West Sussex were all presented with a generous donation towards their work.
The David Hunt Trust was set up in 2010 to give something back to the community where David and his partner have lived for a number of years. In 2023, the David Hunt Trust launched its new £100,000 giveaway as an annual community grant scheme for the people of Sussex.
