We developed a relationship with Embrace in early 2022 when we donated Baby Nests to them.

The team includes our Information sheets in their Transport Packs for each baby they transfer and we donated a Baby Pod in December 2022.

Sidney’s Story

Malik and Muna’s Story

Harry & Harley’s Story

They gave the twins a 0% chance of survival and we discussed ‘comfort care’ which basically means no medical intervention. This was unthinkable to me.

We were delighted and nervous to be having more than one baby. However, we quickly became aware of the complications of twin pregnancy and were diagnosed with twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome at 16 weeks

Charlotte’s story

She spent 41 days on a ventilator and it was five weeks before I could have my first cuddle with her.

Arabella’s Story

I was told that it would be likely that I would have to deliver our baby in the coming days. If we were really lucky, we would make it to 30 weeks, but they needed to find me a bed in a hospital with a level 3 neonatal unit.

Current Appeals

The Embrace Transport Service team have requested further funds from us to purchase a second Baby Pod as they have a number of ambulances in their fleet. These Pods are used during transport to safely move babies from one hospital to another. They can be secured to any trolley or transport stretcher and so therefore can be used in any road, fixed wing or rotary aircraft. They plan to use the Baby Pod in all three modes of transport.

It is lightweight compared to an incubator, however can only be used for babies between 2-8Kg who can maintain their own temperature as it does not have a heating element.

It is estimated that 1,000 babies per year will be transported using the Baby Pod.
